I was not in the mood to read all the May book club books and the interest has dwindled after the majority of the books for me has been DNF’s while a very select few has been hidden gems that I otherwise would not have read. In other words, the reward has been too small for the task. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to look to the book clubs for inspiration – so here are the book club picks for June!
The june book club books:

Read with Jenna: The Celebrants by Steven Rowley
From the author behind The Guncle and Lily and the Octopus. I read Lily and the Octopus years ago and loved it! And while I have yet to read the guncle I’m excied to read this one by this queer author, expecially for June since it’s Pride month. Again, I think Jenna has the best pick that aligns with the books I would want to read.

Reeses book club: Cassandra in Reverse by Holly Smale
Time travel trope! I loved Oona out of order and The time travellers wife, so I’m hoping this will fit into my love for the trope. I’m also reading Kindred by Octavia E. Butler this month, which is also a time travel book. Reese had another time travel book not too long ago – Wrong place, wrong time. While it wasn’t my favorite, I still loved the trime travel aspect of it!

GMA: Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs
Two estranged half sisters guarding their family’s library of magical books have to work together to unravel a deadly secret.
This is mystery, magic, fantasy and romance all wrapped into one.
It is not my genre, and I haven’t loved these magic book club picks in the past, so I’m thinking I might skip this one.

Diverse Spines: Before I let go by Kennedy Ryan
I’ve seen this book all over booktok and I have been interested, so this gave me the push I needed to go read it! A romance book of hope and healing, need that!
This book is one of the three summer reading books for those who follow Diverse spines, the other two for july and august are: A history of burning by Jankia Oza and The wife before by Shanora Williams.

Amerie’s book club: Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs
A double pick this month! Since it is also GMA’s pick of the month.

Belletrist: The three of us by Ore Agbaje-Williams
What if the two most important people in your life hated eachother with a passion? This woman’s husband and best friend hate each other in this story that takes course in a day.
An intriguing topic and I love stories that are told in just one day! Got my copy and I’m excited for it! (Also low key happy I got my hands on an american copy, cause the internatinal edition sucks.)
